Historians of Islamic Art Association (HIAA)

"The Historians of Islamic Art Association (HIAA) is a private, non-profit, non-political organization, whose purpose is to promote the study and teaching of the arts and architecture of the Islamic world and to facilitate communication among those engaged in scholarly or other professional activities related to this field. Established in 1982 as the "North American Historians of Islamic Art," the organization has since grown into an international group of some of 230 members. In 1996, the name was changed to Historians of Islamic Art (HIA) to reflect the broader objectives of the group and its efforts to foster cooperation with colleagues outside the United States. In 2006 the name was again changed, to Historians of Islamic Art Association (HIAA)..."
