Coroplastic Studies Interest Group

"The Coroplastic Studies Interest Group (CSIG) has recently organized and affiliated itself with the Archaeological Institute of America. Its purpose is to focus on the systematic analysis of terracotta figurines, especially those found in legally-excavated archaeological contexts. The understandings of the production, distribution, chronology, display, function, sources of clay, and social meaning have changed dramatically in the past several years and continue to develop rapidly. CSIG intends to provide a venue for the issues regarding the developing studies of terracotta figurines, a means for distribution of ideas and data, and support and encouragement for scholars new to the field of coroplastic studies.Membership in the CSIG comes with the understanding that there will be a cordial exchange of ideas and support, as well as an ethical use of material that may be shared but still is unpublished."
