The Tell Kurdu Project

"Tell Kurdu is an Early Chalcolithic regional center in the Amuq Valley of southeastern Turkey (fig.2). Yielding both Halaf-period (sixth millennium BC) and Ubaid-period (fifth millennium BC) levels, Tell Kurdu offers an unique opportunity to investigate an important formative stage of Near Eastern civilization. Remains from both phases are easily accessible beneath the mound surface, as later occupation levels are absent. The site provides highly promising avenues for research on the prehistory of Northern Mesopotamia. Tell Kurdu is currently the focus of a long-term excavation and research project. This project is part of the Amuq Valley Regional Projects"
