Earliest Land Tenure Systems in the Near East: Ancient Kudurrus

This two volume set offers the first complete edition of the ancient "kudurrus" (Uruk III-Sargonic), combined with exhaustive discussions of the socioeconomic and legal aspects of the documents. All fifty-seven "kudurrus" are presented in transliterations, translations, photographs, hand-copies, synoptic charts, and with philological commentaries. The discussions also utilize the evidence of 282 sale documents, dated to the Fara through the Ur III periods, which are fully transliterated in synoptic charts. The volumes are provided with numerous charts and figures, as well as with extensive listings and indices.
