"These concordances update those published in M.B. Garrison and M.C. Root, Persepolis SealStudies. An Introduction with Provisional Concordances of Seal Numbers and Associated Documents on Fortification Tablets 1-2087, Achaemenid History IX, Leiden: Nederlands Instituut voor het Nabije Oosten 1996 (reprinted with new formatting in 1998). Scholars working with issues of seal praxis and linkages between seal occurrences and information contained in associated PF texts should consult the updated concordances offered here, while still returning to Garrison and Root (1996/1998) for explanations of the history and procedures involved in our substantial alterations to the seal identifications originally made by R.T. Hallock in Persepolis Fortification Tablets, Oriental Institute Publications 92, Chicago: University of Chicago Press 1969; see now also the comments in M.B. Garrison and M.C. Root, Seals on the Persepolis Fortification Tablets. Jones), pp. 44-46.The updates to our concordances presented here reflect two phenomena: (1) new collations of multiple seal impressions that unite under one seal (PFS) number impressions that Hallock(1969) had registered as vestiges of discrete seals; and (2) new separations of multiple seal impressions that disassociate into two discrete seal numbers impressions that Hallock (1969) had registered as vestiges of a single seal. These collations and separations are all based upon close analysis of the actual tablets. At the date of this writing, we have 150 preliminary composite drawings still to re-evaluate with reference to the tablets. Undoubtedly the completion of this task will yield a few more revisions to the concordances. Thus, the lists here remain provisional..."
