"The catalogue ... will be as comprehensive as possible and will include all papyrus fragments with mythographic contents, even if the mythographic element is only secondary. In practice all prose fragments showing an explicit interest in mythology for its own sake will be included. So even school papyri with lists of names of which only part are mythological or commentaries containing, among much other material, references to some variants of a given legend, find a place here. There is no doubt, then, that the catalogue will offer much more than the list in R. Pack, The Greek and Latin Literary Texts from Greco-Roman Egypt, Ann Arbor, 1965², p. 129-131 (as well as in Mertens-Pack3), where fragments of mythographical and religious nature have been assembled under one heading. The catalogue will be divided on the basis of contents in different genre categories, such as hypotheseis, commentaries, catalogues, prose narratives, etc. Apart from the printed version, of which the publication is planned for the Autumn of 2002, a reduced version of the catalogue is being made accessible on the internet by means of Filemaker Pro. This electronic version does not offer the complete bibliography of each papyrus and misses a full description of the contents, the material state of preservation and the hand, but it presents two advantages over the book version: regular updates can be easily issued and it enables quick searches in the catalogue not only by genre but by any of the 26 categories used for the description of each papyrus - 14 fields concern the identification of the papyrus and the bibliography, 11 fields describe the material aspects and 7 fields have to do with contents."
