A question of authenticity and date: Roman copies and Ptolemaic originals

Abstract: Egyptian-style sculptures from the Roman period are often dismissed as modern forgeries on account of their unusual proportions and stylised features. This article considers the Imperial Roman fashion of using Egyptian and Egyptianising sculptural representations concentrating on three statues of questionable authenticity.
